The affluent have always been drawn to Paradise Valley homes because of the city’s natural beauty, spacious lots, and close proximity. When Paradise Valley was first established in was nothing more than a few refined dude ranches, where residents rode their horses to visit their neighbors. Most of the Paradise Valley horse properties are gone now, and many of the five acre parcels have been subdivided. Anything non-residential requires a special-use permit, including the $12,000 pigeon coop boxer Mike Tyson had built behind his home.

Muhammad Ali owns a home in Paradise Valley and Jenna Jameson purchased a lavish 10,000 square foot estate not long ago. Celebrities seem to enjoy the quiet and seclusion offered by Paradise Valley property. About 60 percent of Paradise Valley transplants come from out-of-state.

You’ll find an interesting mix of Paradise Valley homes for sale. Older ranches style homes with front yards thick with cactus and prickly bushes, are adjacent to pillared Arizona Mansions with elaborate landscaping and water features. Architectural masterpieces cling to stony hillsides. Many Paradise Valley properties are concealed behind private gates, extensive driveways and mature desert vegetation. Desert animals like rabbits and roadrunners are common sights skittering behind sage bushes and eating the hibiscus. Paradise Valley real estate can cost twice as much as Carefree homes and almost three times more than some Scottsdale properties.

Much of Paradise Valley real estate is ripe for teardown. The area is exclusive and sought-after, many of the homes are older. Vacant lots currently cost about the same as old ranch home on large lots. Teardown permits have increased significantly over the last few years. Paradise Valley Luxury Condos made there debut in fall of 2005 with Bella Terra.
